Data & Document Management Puts Information at Your Fingertips

D2Xchange Announces Earth Day Promotion to Benefit The Wildlife Experience

Greenwood Village, CO – In honor of Earth Day 2007, D2Xchange, LLC will donate 1% of its net profits from new scanning and document management software sales closed between April 15 and June 15, 2007, to The Wildlife Experience, an interactive museum in Parker, Colorado, that strives to instill respect for habitat and wildlife and inspire conservation efforts through natural history, fine art and film.

“Despite advances in technology, 90% of the documents we handle in the workplace are still paper-based,” says Nancy Sauer, president, D2Xchange. “Paper documents are costly to print, distribute and store. They also impact our environment.”

Sauer cited the following statistics:

  1. The U.S. consumes 3.7 million tons or 700 trillion sheets of copy paper a year. (Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance)
  2. The average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of copy paper a year. (Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance)
  3. A 60-foot pine tree, 1 foot in diameter can produce, on average, 80,500 sheets of paper. (howstuffworks.com)
  4. Paper and paperboard accounts for 40% of our trash. (Environmental Protection Agency)
  5. Every year enough paper is thrown away to make a 12 foot wall from New York to California. (National Wildlife Federation)

D2Xchange encourages organizations to cut costs and improve productivity by adopting paperless office solutions that range from document scanning (i.e., converting paper documents to electronic formats) to software-based electronic document management systems that automate transactional business processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll administration and allow organizations to systematically control documents throughout their lifecycle (e.g., creation, sharing, management, destruction).

“Office paper is highly recyclable, but reducing the overall volume of paper in the workplace is a more cost-effective strategy,” Sauer says. “Converting printed documents to electronic files enhances information sharing and reduces the amount of material that needs to be collected, transported and processed for recycling. Waste reduction can save money for businesses and institutions of any size.”
